The KDDI/Nokia 4D resource optimization result is the standout item here. 40% power reduction on commercial hardware is a serious number.

But the gap between anechoic chamber validation and live network behavior is exactly where these optimizations tend to lose their edge. In the field, you're dealing with interference patterns that shift every few seconds, handover events that force resource reallocation, and traffic load asymmetry across sectors that no lab environment can replicate.

The joint optimization of time, frequency, space and power makes total sense conceptually. The real question for field deployment is latency: can the optimization loop react fast enough when UE mobility patterns change? On live networks, a 200ms optimization cycle can miss an entire RRC state transition. Antenna muting decisions that work under stable load become counterproductive during a handover storm.

Field validation across multiple cells and bands will be the real proof point. Lab results are necessary, not sufficient. Curious to see how this performs on a live macro grid with mixed FDD/TDD and real mobility.
